What is Open Door?

Are you looking for somewhere to chill-out or make new friends, meet with old friends or with God, then why not come along to Open Door Community and Internet Cafe on a Thursday morning at 10:30am - 1pm where you will always find a warm welcome.

You can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea whilst reading one of our free newspapers, or enjoying a chat. If you prefer something more challenging we have table tennis and a games table with a wide variety of board games and you will always find someone willing to take up the challenge of a game.

Our Art table is where you can give free expression to your artistic talents, whether that be in drawing, painting needlework or other skills, we have a well stocked art box for you to give free rein to your imagination!

We also have a quiet table where you will be able to sit quietly and read the Bible or an interesting short printed message. We also offer a FREE Internet Cafe where you will be able to access your emails or search the internet for information. We can provide free and confidential assistance to help you with filling in your online claim forms for the various government benefits. We can also give you basic computer lessons.

If English is not your first language and you are a woman then we offer English language courses for beginners or more advanced students. These are very popular, but places do become available. If you are interested please do pop in on a Thursday morning at 11.30 am to find out more and go on our waiting list or email english.portswood@gmail.com.

At 11.45 we pause for a Thought for the Day focusing on Jesus with a brief prayer.  There is always opportunity to have deeper conversations with one of the team should you wish to expand on the topic of the day.

Please make yourself known to Peter or Margaret White or Peter or Sandra Lambros when you come in, just ask for one of us and we will be very pleased to welcome you and show you around.
